Old client detected, disconnected. Is there a way to disable

Post by dcpprox » 2006-04-23 15:41

Hello,

I often get error message "Old client detected, disconnected" when I try to dowload from another user who I suppose has an older version.

Is it possible to disable this?

Thank you.

What version of DC++ are you using?

0.689

I went through the setup menus I can't find an option to enable allowing downloading from older clients.

The above error-message is not part of the DC++ source-code. You are probably using a clone.
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.

Yes, but you can't ask for help about a clone in the DC++ Support section.

You should have used the "Other Direct Connect tools" section of the forum.

When theparanoidone asked you which version of DC++ you use, you should have said that you used fuldc a clone of DC++ and so on...

This wastes our time..

I want to know this, too.
fulDC neither allows me to connect to "old clients" nor them connecting to me.
I have searched the changelog, the documentation and of course google, but no hint or description of this "feature".
can someone clear things up?

fulDC changelog states:

Code: Select all

Removed: compatibility with old clients, both upload and download (pre 0.402)

The filelist bug or the fact that the base code was released almost two years ago is my guess.

Hehe, he acts as if post-401 clients were superb. The last version I was fully satisfied with: 0.306. :)

Yeah, actually it is fulDC. I apologize.

I am new to Direct Connect network. When I install the client it was given from a hub, and to be fair it does say "DC++" on the application's title bar.

I decided to get authentic DC++ 0.674 from here, and all is well now. :D
