Antifragmentation method - or how not to suicide yourself.

Post by fedra » 2006-02-02 03:24

Hello to everybody.

One day, a year a go, I've tryed to use that antifragmentation method.
That was the worst day in that year.
And that option is the most dangeros in DC++.

Everything was good a week or two until my windows crashed and all my downloads were broken.
But still, I will realy like to use that option again if it will be more stable.
My HDD is very fragmented because of DC++.
Can you make it better and not so dangeros?
I know is not DC++ fault, and it is Windows' fault, but maybe you can do something.

If I undesŕstand you that this option crashed your PC...

... but it's your problem, or you think that creating empty file on HDD is dangerous? I guess your HDD or memory is corrupted.

There is a warning in the help (and changelog) for that option. Yes, it is risky if your computer is prone to crashing.

If you want less fragmentation, look at the help for the Write Buffer option.

My computer was prone to crash recently. I always use antifrag (so I won't accidentally run out of disk space), and crashes corrupted a file only once. Just sharing my own experience...

In theory, with the new TTH resume, antifrag files should be able to be resumed...
