As far as i can see, mp4 isn't a very popular format. Very few seem to use it infact. I'm guessing it would probably not be worth the CPU hit.

Mp4 is mainly used to make tiny vidoes (resolution and filesize) to be used on mobile phones.

Huh? Adding .mp4 to the video type would be no CPU hit at all. This is something that really should be done. .mp4 is the official container format for MPEG-4 video and should become more important in the future as HD formats take over. All those DVD players that are playing avi files should be playing mp4's.

A feature that takes no CPU time at all? That's not realistic.

For niche extensions, I just add the extension to the search terms.

For all practical purposes yes, adding .mp4 to the video list would be no CPU hit. This isn't adding a "feature" it's just adding a list entry to some data structure. I bet u wouldn't even be able to measure the additional usage. Unless DC is using some horribly inefficient matching algorithm. But that's not true, right???

For this to work, the client you're searching has to be aware of the .mp4 video extension, not your own. So this will only become usable when the majority of users have upgraded to a client version that supports it.
