I downloaded a windows media movie file which has "TMP" right before the filename. The file seems to be average size of a movie. I tried opening it with vlc media player , it runs in the bar, but i can't get any video or sound out of it. I trie in windows media player but it won't open it. I was wondering is there a player or codec which i can get to view these types of files? Thanks a million!

It is probably an incomplete file from some other filesharing network.. I can't think which ones use TMP, but wherever it came from, the temporary tag probably means that the data in the file is a mix of video/audio and placeholding junk. Maybe ask whoever you got it from if they can play it?

Your reply is confusing. Are you using
...
codes?
