Specify. Does it take a long time for the users to download from each other? That has nothing to do with the hub. Does the initial handshake take a long time? That might have to do with the hub, but it's impossible to know since you havn't even specified what hubsoft you're using.

Nobody can download from anyone? Sounds like a passive/active issue. You know that passive users can't download from other passives? If not, is the active modes properly set?

I am also behind a router and I have forwarded all the neccasary(spelling) ports, and people can get into the hub without a problem, and I've tried the active/passive route and that doesn't do the trick either, and I've set hubs up before and the active/passive usually fixed the problem, but it still doen't any ideas?

Are you the only one having the problem, or is it your users? If you're behind a NAT, and your hub is also, you may need to look for a script to fix up some IP addresses so you can use your hub as if you were a normal user.

I'd start by searching the Lua/Ptokax board.

Hi,
The problem could be in the scripts running on the Ptokax. There are download-blocking scripts around (eg. to prevent unregged users from downloading), one of them might be running on your hub with the wrong config, blocking everyone.
I don't see how it could be a dc++ issue, as I assume your users use various clients, and if no-one can download at all... And the script is the only way I can imagine it being a PtokaX problem. You might consider asking around on the PtokaX forum too.

Yeah - what he said.

Assuming all your users also use other hubs and download fine there (i.e. you're not all new users), their configuration should be fine. If that's the case, something special/non-standard must be running on your hub to block the relaying of connection attempts ("hey, connect to this ip and port") between the users...

YnHub has been released, maybe you should try that. ;)

hey well the thing is that most if not all the users in my hub have never used a hub before besides me. Also what's the difference between YnHub and other hub software.

If they are all newbies, there's a pretty good chance they've not configured their DC++ versions properly for active mode. If they all switch into passive mode, the problem will be gone, as very few will be able to download from anyone else. ;)

Yhub is one pice of hub software, the others are others.
Yhub tries to build in the ability to enforce the common hub rules, which in some other hubs have to be scripted.

There's a small description of hub software here: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6545
