TOTAL disabling pm

Post by premier69 » 2004-04-21 16:53

the fuction to send private messages , i think is being abused by all hubs and their moderators.

they keep incisting one vote for their hub, or nag messages, or users use it to advertise for hubs....in short its spam, or even worse, slot begging!

i would like a feature that totaly ignore any private messages being sent to the user.
a so called popup killer.

im sure more would like this feature.

most of the things you talk about are caused by bots, if you enable the setting "ignore messages from user that are not online" most of the things will be ignored

As a hub owner, I'd like to think I'm not in the minority when I say "if you're in my hub, you have to deal with PMs from my moderators." However we don't do more than the occasional mass message from bots, and the mods PM for rule infractions. If the PM function was disabled then what way would we be able to ask people to unshare things that aren't allowed?

If a hub is constantly bothering you with PMs, then LEAVE

"ignore messages from users that are not online , effective against bots"

this function clearly does not work and i would like this feature to be improved/upgraded.

I've seen many occasions where hub owners use it far more than needed and i find it irritating that when i come back after a period of time i have like 5-6 nag messages from different sources.

If a user blocks an attempt by a moderator to warn him he should only have him self to blame when getting kicked/banned.

i simply would appreciate this function. aspecialy for blocking slot beggers!

and leaving doesn't solve the problem.

strange indeed, becouse i get them all the time and after some extent it gets irritating, thats why i started this thread.
I'm just saying the bot supressor function isn't working very well for me.

If the bots are online, it won't work.
If the bots are offline, you've found a bug.

Users should be free to cover their eyes and stick their fingers in their ears and try to drown out any attempt at communication. Ops should kick those same users if they take exception to that behavior.

I'm not the one who's going to code it, though.
