Suggestion: 'stop search button'
Hi there.
Is it possible for you 'guys' to make a stop search altarnative? If you search on 'britney spears' for example alot of files are showing. And you see one of her songs that you want to download, but sometimes it is impossible to click on that song because it searches for even more files and you can't click on that particalur song because it's scrolling downwards and the list is getting bigger and bigger. It's pretty annoying.
What if you had a 'stop search' button to click on when you have found what you were looking for and can download the following files that is shown on the list?
- Thx

Sometimes it is frustrating to wait to the search list to stop up. Often it can be hell of a long list. If there had been a 'stop searching further' button it would been easier.
Perhaps pressing the search button once would start the search and pressing it one more time could cancel the search when you have found what you were looking for.

I like the idea of a stop button.. however.. it's a little hard to accually stop the search, sure. one could just ignore the results that pop in.. but let's say you switch options to search another hub and search for the same thing... then results would start to pop in from the old seach too right?

It's a problem when you find a file almost at once and when you try to download it, it dissappear downwards because new files comes and take the place in the filelist above the file you want to download.cyberal wrote:one could just ignore the results that pop in..
All I'm saying it could have been easier just to abort the search and use the current files in the list to choose which one you want to download.
It could have some inet traffic as well on the hubs? [/I don't have a clue what I'm talking about]
hmm, wouldn't it just be simpler not to search for something that will most likely end up giving you hundreds or even thousands of responses to your search?
Example: You want to search for that Britney Spears you mentioned, type in "Britney Spears songname" (don't know her songs, or refuse to admit that I'd know any ). Atleast then all results will be correct and it doesn't matter which one you take as you'll end up with the right song anyway.

I too would like a feature like this. Like hitting escape would stop it / stop showing results (bottom line, stop DC++ from using 100% which prevents you from doing anything in it until the seach is complete).
I run into this problem when I do a too broad search (.wav and forgetting to specify a min share size) and then subsequently have to wait for 20 seconds while DC++ returns a shitload of results.

I meant that DC++ should ignore the search results that it recieves from other users.. and don't show them in the list. Just because you hit a stop button other users don't stop sending you their results!Epzilon wrote:It's a problem when you find a file almost...cyberal wrote:one could just ignore the results that pop in..

This can be very frustrating and that's why a 'stop search' button is a good idea. It seems like you got my point and I hope there may be a stop button in next update. ^^I run into this problem when I do a too broad search (.wav and forgetting to specify a min share size) and then subsequently have to wait for 20 seconds while DC++ returns a shitload of results.
...that's probably to much to ask for.
Ok, It seems to me that the most natural thing to do here is to put in an RFE at http://sourceforge.net/projects/dcplusplus and now that you're eager why don't you supply a code snippet that solves the problem?Epzilon wrote:...that's probably to much to ask for.
