Finished uploads/downloads window

Post by Wisp » 2003-07-12 10:18

In my opinion it would be better if there was just one window not only displaying uploads and downloads, but also all sort of information like when a hub is connected/disconnected or when you change your nickname etc

so just one general log-window, when you only want to see the downloads you can click a checkbox or a button so that only downloads are shown

this would be a more efficient way i think

the items can be displayed in a grid with icons next to them, and a search box to quickly find things

yes, I made another feature suggestion, and nobody answered either. Our beloved developers must be on vacation... ;)

Well, what you want include three repugnant things to developers :
a) GUI
b) replacing working code with new one (yes, yes, it will be better, but the feature is already there, y'know, and why go through the trouble to change it now that it works? :) )
c) replacing GUI stuff with new/more GUI stuff

GUIs are evil - at least when they are handcoded using a "real" programming language, instead of those puny gutter dialects like "C#" - puh-lease! I want my segfaults, not some mewling paper-clip that tells me "Sorry, but your program seems to have crashed? want some help, Skipper?".
Jokes aside, however, when you code GUIs things go wrong extremely often, and thus you must create your code much like a thirteen century peasant handled his Lord's prize bull - ve-e-e-ry carefully.

As for number two (or b), "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". 'nuff said.

Number three is left as an exercise for the astute reader.

we sure know you don't like GUI sarf ;) however, I think you have done a great job with k ..

I think this request is related to the "put related tabs together"-topic.
Could have one tab for Finished Transfers and inside that two top tabs "DL", "UL"... another finished transfers feature I would like is a file counter in the bottom, next to the size counter...

The guy wants a "status window", like IRC (can I compare dc to irc?).. and so do I, a status window would be GREAT!

not a status window, but a log window ;)

it would be great if it can log all sorts of things, example

21:00 (download icon) amovie.avi 655mb
21:01 disconnected from hub "Cool]HuB[65gb"
21:04 (download icon) photoshop7.rar
21:07 filelist updated to MyList9.lst
21:11 Private message from Dude234 on hub "warezhub.no-ip.com"

etc etc etc
