It sounds like you want it to get registered so it appears on the public hub list.

I'm moving this to the Hubs/Scripts topic, since they should know more about that there.

There's also a Ptokax board if you search around for its url...

DC++ is a client for the hub, but has nothing at all to do with how your hub registers itself on the hublists provided by other people.

(Emphasis for points.)

I haven't searched the forum for you, I suspect this has come up before. :)

Oooh, for your information, a kind poster in the "What happened to Ptokax?" thread gave this dynamic hostname, which will redirect to the current location of the potkax/lua board: http://board-ptokax.no-ip.org/

Where is what? The Ptokax message board is at that link.

What functionality are you missing? What do you want the script to do?

You do not need a script to get your hub on the public list. Ptokax will register your hub automatically. Look through settings.

If your hub is hosted on your machine, then try connecting to 127.0.0.1:<hub port>

If your hub is hosted remotely, then check that the firewall is set up to allow hub traffic .

That isn't an integer, it's an IP address.

To join your hub, you need to put 127.0.0.1 in the manu connect box in the public hub list in DC++. You need to put your hub's dynamic hostname (since your IP probably changes, so a dynamic hostname that you have set up to follow those changes is the natural choice). The port box only accepts numbers/integers - you want to leave this empty or fill in 411 (the default hub port). If it's anything other than 411, you'll have to enter the 127.0.0.1:<number> in DC++.

You can teach yourself by looking up your router on the internet.

You should connect to your hub locally first.

If you set up port forwarding, and people can't connect, you won't know whether it's your port forwarding, the hub software, or some firewall. Making sure you can connect to your hub from behind your router eliminates two possible causes of trouble later.

Yes. That's what I mean - using the manual connect address.

"Connection timeout" can appear two places: when connecting to a hub, and down below in the transfer window while trying to connect to a user.

If you manually connect to your hub and get a connection timeout, you're using the wrong address, the hub isn't running, or something (firewall?) is blocking your connection.
