Running DC Hub as a Windows Service?
Hi,
I'm a relative newbee, but have installed and have everything rocking with DC Hub running V1.0.
All is sweet, apart from I have to make sure that I'm logged on to the machine and run the DC Hub software. Does anyone know of a way to install it as a service.
I've tried using the install service wizard from the windows 2000 resource kit, and allowed the system account to interact with the desktop, still no joy? I've tried using the admin account also for it to log on as, but it would appear that the executable just won't play ball as a service.
So, peeps, anyone with some bright ideas?

Here's a potential solution that may work for NMDC Hub too but has it's own drawbacks....

Yes, it's not like a super explicit name such as viewtopic.php?t=490 wasn't immediately standing out in the preview, when what you meant to post was viewtopic.php?p=2286#2286... They don't even point both to the same thread or anything =pI'll never understand why people can't use the preview button before putting up an error filled post.
Errrrr,,.................thread hijack!!
Anyway,
Thanks for that, I'd already set up the autologin in win2k for a different user, and put it in the startup program folder. It works, not ideally, but still works. If I need to do any admin on the hub, I have to remote control the dektop and do it from there. A bit of a pain.
Cheers

Write a loader for it
Write a loader that puts it into memory. Shove the loader into a service by not giving it "presence" on the task bar. That also improves speed, oddly enough.
