DL and UP check in BCDC++ .22
Hi,

Only problem with BCDC++ is it gives the user an option to turn off the <++V: bla bla in the advanced settings. If they turn it off, there is no way to regulate the user as it will bypass your DC++ script section totally. Anybody else know of a way to check on DC++ User's if they are not showing the <++V:......> in their description?
Upload limiter on BCDC++ 0.22 set to minimum 6Kb!
I cannot set my upload limit to 1Kb/s !
is that normal ???
i have cable and my upload/ download is linked ... what can i do to change this
on the client\advenced3p.cpp i found the line to change the c++ file (6,999 --> 0,999) but i cannot compile it ....
can you help me or is there a script to make the upload limit to 1KB like on hacked dc++ 0.181 [/b]

How can i spot a BCDC then? It it the limited Locklength you are talking about?ender wrote:That's a stupid thing to say. BCDC can be easily detected, even if the tag is hidden and Lock/Pk are changed. If you don't know how to do it, you're not fit to be a hub op.Apps like BCDC++ ruin the DC network.
There are much more dangerous DC applications out there...
Auto Kick, Ban, and or Nickban Leeches
I found this link on the dc++blue forum! lol

Get a copy and keep out the leeches! Just put hubs you op in, in the favorites and set the commands!

Yes it does! !static Lock! I have yet to find a version of DC++ that can't be caught by it though there is one that come closer but still stands out like a sore thumb. If you want to try your client stop by my hub... but don't get pissed when your kicked.

I hate to break it to you, but i've been able to trick this client a number of times. It says that my client is a !Other client, but I doesn't kick or anything. I've tried my client on several of the big hubs, and has not been kicked yet. (I did not download anything, it was a test only)ftp wrote:Yes it does! !static Lock! If you don't believe me, setup a hub and give me the adress and I'll show you

I'll be sure to visit, as I've recently improved my client. It should now be... very hard to detect, if you are so inclined.ftp wrote:Yes it does! !static Lock! ... I logged in OK. No problems, not kicked.
Good luck on the client detection proggies.

NattensQje:
But that clientdetection mod doesn't keep a well setup BCDC out
Which is it? Are you sure your using DC++k? 0.1774 doesn't have customizable lock/pk much less a random one.:
P.S. I used DC++k with customized lock/pk, extended protocol disabled, support disabled, bz list disabled..
Finally, of course, if you mod you own version you can hide your hack better than mass released editons. My point was that BCDC 0.22 has static lock! at its best cloaked and this client detection mod can spot it. I didn't make cdm nor do I know who did, I don't stay up nights worried if some leech can find his way in to my hub. If CDM can kick some of the leeches I am happy.
P.S. Just cause CDM doesn't kick your !other client doesn't mean an OP won't.

DC++k (note: NOT DC++) has had customizable lock/pk for a very long time (I don't remember since when) - you merely had to use commands to access those features.ftp wrote:Which is it? Are you sure your using DC++k? 0.1774 doesn't have customizable lock/pk much less a random one.

Oh, my God! ARTHUR, I HAVE POCKETS!
Sorry for (maybe) stupid question. I haven't studied DC++ code regarding logging in etc. And I couldn't get what Pk/Lock things are good for? As I could see from source DC++ responds with hashed Versionstring at the login. But if mod supply original Dc++ versionstring it should be ok.
How is it possible that so many people here rant about their modified clients being detected by bots? Is it that hard to make client unrecognizable by bots?
Btw. I'm running my own modified version, with some rather _controversial_ features implemented (not to harm other users but to make my life more comfortable, no comments on this topic, please). I have done nothing to be stealth except I left my original Versionstring as well as <++ string intact. I'm running it several months on very populated hubs and no bot ever decided to kick me for my client. In fact never kicked me at all
I had never problems with kicking for version. Of course I did no effort to mimic NMDC.

Correct... if all people wanted was to be detected as a DC++ client.yilard wrote:Sorry for (maybe) stupid question. Yes and no. The "stupid" bots are easy to fool, but it is possible (not exactly *easy*, but possible) to code a bot that will detect DC++-based clients as long as the codebase is still recognizable as DC++ (well, almost).yilard wrote:How is it possible that so many people here rant about their modified clients being detected by bots? Well, I usually run my modified version (including different version number, current 0.18175) and I have yet to be kicked from my regular hubs either. However, I sometimes want to get into hubs that do not allow DC++ (mainly to check them out) and I do not want to use NM DC (mainly because I can do... other stuff with my modified client).yilard wrote:Btw. :: ftp : I have to admit that I got banned from your hub trying to reconfig a hacked DC++k version. I did not have enough time to try it out with my ClientDetection mod before i went into your hub. You were right..
By the way i used: 17746
I think that the most dangerous weapon in this leecher discussion is a modified DC++ which have the original <++ tag replaced with a fake one. This is more difficult to spot (I think, lol). I'll try such a client in your hub ftp

If you want another shot pm me your ip and or your nick (asuming not dymamic).
I must wonder about the hiden then faked descripton behaps it would work. Perhaps not depending on the way it was achived. I honestly don't know enough about the way CDM works to venture an intelligent quess.

My client (not .22, but a soon to be released 0.23) can masquerade itself apparently fine on your hub; at least, I'm not kicked no matter how long I stay on it.ftp wrote:If you want to try your client stop by my hub... but don't get pissed when your kicked.
CDM seems unable to detect this.ftp wrote:I must wonder about the hiden then faked descripton behaps it would work. Perhaps not depending on the way it was achived. I honestly don't know enough about the way CDM works to venture an intelligent quess.
