Hub list problems? LOOK HERE!!

Post by AlleyKat » 2003-03-30 01:29

OK, here it goes. If you have trouble with your public hub list, look no further.

Instruction: Open your DC. Open Settings. In tab Downloads, locate Public Hubs list URL, and replace the string with 1 of the following URLs without the > < !!! These are just made to ensure you don't get any whitespaces in the line.

Now, OK the Settings, open a new Public Hubs list window (YES that means close any open ones first!) and press Refresh.
If it doesn't work the first time, no sweat - try Refreshing few times more. And remember, you can always check that it works in Internet Explorer - .bz2 files should offer to be saved/opened while the rest should open as text files.
If it still doesn't work. try another list.

Another way to locate hubs are using the also-mentioned search engines for hubs, and adding those manually.

  :D :) 8) Hippy Sharing Out There And Take Care 8) :) :D

Delete any spaces before and after the url in settings menu. Or try another one if this won't work.

For some reason, as of yesterday I can no longer refresh my hub list..
I do sometimes switch through these different lists provided, yet I tried everysingle one today and none of them work. Im wondering is there is something wrong with my connection or something.

Can anyone help?

  1. Check the lists in your web browser.
  2. erase any spaces before or after the hublist URL
  3. check if any firawall prevents DC++ to access port 80

Please be more specific, I can't help you if you don't give me exact feedback on each step.

Correction to list: ImperialNet list will be moved to search engines, as they now require 'subscription' (an emailaddress to send you a 'personal' link), see www.imperialnet.org for details.

If I have a hublist, where can I use it?
(I have a problem like this: "Sourceforge can't supply this hublist anymore (bandwidth problems). See http://dcplusplus.sf.net/forum for details on how to change.")

Connection timeout to a hub means that you're firewalled, or the hub is down. (The mechanism of connecting is exactly the same in Active/Passive, so that's not it.)

Try looking for other posts of the same nature, I have a URL of one of my replies handy. :)

For a site with loads of hub lists go here: http://www.indx.f2s.com
I entered that site in a few search engines last week so should be getting some traffic soon. If you want me to add a hub list that ive missed out then drop the URL of it here, Ive put up all the ones I know.

A suggestion to indx

Post by Marvin » 2003-04-16 15:08

May I suggest you to set the URLs as HTML links on your site, so that we could easily check if they are alive before pasting them in DC++ ?

Post by eflat » 2003-04-24 02:17

Hi,
When I click to rtefresh button on the public hub list window, then say for me on the status line, hub list downloaded, but it's not show for me.
Why?

Where and how can I access any hub list? Or XML format for include these into my favorite hub list?

Thanx

Why?
The message "hub list downloaded" simply means that you successfully downloaded whatever url was placed in your hublist settings. However, it does not mean the the url you entered was a valid hublist.

I would double check the url that you entered for this, and try again...

Well, I'd tell you to look for the sticky post that says something like "Public hub list problems? LOOK HERE", but you're already here. As I and others have suggested, get a url from here and put it in your browser. Make sure your browser prompts you to download the file, and doesn't give a 404 message. That almost always indicates you've got a good hub list. Use that.

Post by hedning » 2003-05-08 05:43

I've been using this list >http://www.mds.mdh.se/~dtv01jbd/PublicH ... config.bz2 < but it has stopped working.
When I change the hub list in the settings and try to download it, it is still trying to download the old one. Why?
Can anyone help me?

I've a problem that I'm somewhat at a loss about. I've been using DC++ for quite a while now. I recently however reinstalled Windows and now I can't get any public hub-lists. The ones I've tried I've also tried in explorer and got a bunch of hub titles and odd symbols, so I assume the list is working... I plug it into the settings and I can't get the list :(.

I've tried:

http://www.1stleg.com/PublicHubList.config

http://www.mds.mdh.se/~dtv01jbd/PublicH ... config.bz2

http://freespace.morat.net/WUKY/PublicHubList.config

and a few others... Any idea what could be going horribly wrong?

By the way, I can manually connect to hubs and download that way

This thread just had a cleaning... Off-topic (and posts mentioning non-existent hub lists) got split off. I left the most common problems here. Read everything and see if it solves your problem before posting. PLEASE. :)

No posts were deleted. Appropriate questions were moved to their own topics in the right forums. Offtopic posts were split off into their own thread in a hidden topic that normal users can't see.
