User speed checker....

Post by Muppet99 » 2005-12-08 15:23

Hello people.....

I.m running a few hub for a while, and now i want to make a new hub where only fastspeeds can enter.

So my wuestion is the following:

Is it possible to check the user's upload speed when he/she connects to the hub???
If yes, is it possible to make an script that kicks the user if the speed is below the set treshold???

already tried to get an client with speedchecker, but it didn't work out.....

It won't work out because upload speed varies depending a bunch of variables. So you'll end up with a great deal of false positive kicks for slow speed, enough to make the script worthless.

Do it by IP range instead. (I know that doesnt' answer your question)

Of course it is possible. But I've not seen evidence that anyone has done it. And by that I mean you'd have to write your own tools, since I've not seen or heard of something that will do what you want.
