I am building a feature into MoS++ that basically stores some statistics on the hubs it searches.
# of times searched
# of times attempted
# of responces to the search
hub lag time
etc...
The information will vary depending on some things
ip of the client
things the client searches for
etc...
The client will use the information it's capturing to beter sort the search order MoS++ uses. Hopefully it will also reduce searches of hub that specialize in things that the client does not care about. It should help the client find what he is looking for faster.
i.e. Someone who searches for lots of emulator stuff will tend to search hubs that specialize in emu stuff first.
hubs that specialize in other things will tend to move further down the list.
All that said, here is what I'm asking you guys to think about
Would you be opposed if each client sent it's top 10 hubs to a rating server, and the server would post the top 50 hubs based on this wide pool of users doing the searches.
It would in a sense advertise hubs that support the community the best.
what do you think?
