Hosting and connecting?

Which hub software is the best? Where can I find script XXX? Discuss it here...(no, this is not for advertising your hub...)

Hosting and connecting?

Post by spank » 2004-09-05 10:02

Hey.

Im hosting a dc hub on my server with a longshine 883-dsl-4fn router.
It works fine and all my freinds can connect, but when i try to connect, from my work pc, i get "time out" (also if i try to connect from my server)

what to do?

Make sure that if you are trying to connect to a computer inside your network, that you are using the network address instead of your external IP address. The default convention for a network address is usually 192.168.0.X - if you are using Windows XP, do the following to find out the address of the hosting computer:

1) Go to start menu, Run.
2) type "cmd" (without quotes) and hit enter.
3) Once a command prompt opens type "ipconfig"
4) Look under "Local Area Connection" for "IP Address:"

That is the address you should use when connecting to the hub computer within your network.

This isn't a problem per se: it's working exactly as it's supposed to.
