OpenDcHub, bots and bans

Which hub software is the best? Where can I find script XXX? Discuss it here...(no, this is not for advertising your hub...)

OpenDcHub, bots and bans

Post by Madd0g » 2004-06-23 15:18

Lately I'm having bot problems
lots of connections from 38.118*

I tried to ban them using the command
!ban 38.*

but they still manage to get in
any ideas?

ok, after a lot of searching I realised that they are mldc/telia bots or something

is there any script or something to make them go away? :)

thanks

If they all have the same sharesize, and it's below 1GB, it's likely mldc's yes. Telia bots? Never heard of. They should all have different IP-ranges however. To get rid of mldc's you should either raise your minshare to 1GB or not allow clients without tags, if you're on Yhub that is.

They all have around 60GB !

raising the minshare to 60GB is not possible :-\
They all have the same client tag though... is there any bot that can kick them based on their client tag?

and I don't get the ban thing... the ban is in the banlist and still they get in

Could you give us some userinfo on a couple of these users?

<DC V:2.02,M:A,H:1/0/0,S:6,0:6>
this is the tag

their sharesize is around 50-60GB

sometimes their file lists are accessible, sometimes - not

what else...?

So what is it that makes you think that they are bots and not normal users on NMDC 2.02?

Most of the time their file lists are inaccessible
They don't talk in the main chat
They don't respond when someone calls them

They all have similar share sizes
and some of them have identical file lists

most of them have exactly the same ip address
some have similar ip addresses

but all of them are in the 38.118.* range.

ohhh... and the come in groups :)

I have a small hub... it's not a normal situation

I'm having a hard time believing they are regular users.
