GAH!! VS .NET 2003 - Online Resources won't show?

Post by Ferus » 2003-11-13 18:28

(Please, go ahead and yell at me about posting in the wrong forum. Delete the post, move it or whatever but please, just a simple answer would do it. Know any good VS .NET forums concerning it all for that matter? I'm a lousy surfer)

Yes Im connected but why are ALL options (apart from Get started, What's new & Search online) giving me this result?

And another thing is that when trying to check for updates via "What's NEW" is that I
1.) get this:

2.) When clicking "Retry" it agrees to proceed but it only brings me the following result:

I'm not behing any kind of router, just using Norton Personal FW 2002.

Thanks.

Kill me, but I can't actually find the "scripting disabled" funtion in internet options -> tools ANYWHERE :/

I suck converning norton but I disabled it and tried so I don't think that is the problem either.

"their .net dll Thiny"?

tools-->internet option-->advanced-->install on demand
tools-->internet option-->security-->select internet icon-->clic default.
tools-->internet option-->privacy-->clic on default.

firewall settings might also bloc java and active scripting.
use default firewall settings(medium)
also in privacy allow cookies

Thanks for a clear direction!

Weird, because all is now set as that and stil I get the same result, even with the FW disabled. :(

I don't wanna upgrade manually, lol.

Seriously... I really wonder why I can't get in contact with those sites and stuff shown at the startpage... There are som very nice features and resources there.... well well... I can live with it ;) I'm not in VS to surf the web but it would be nice to have it working, though.

Thanks, TheNOP

Ferus

most if not all microsoft web site try to use port 445(The SMB (Server Message Block) protocol), your router might be in the way.

I understood about the port the first post, so that is why I shut my software FW off when trying. I do not own a router or such. This is a stand alone computer using WinXP and Norton Personal FW 2002 only.

Any other ideas? Can you post me a beautiful picture of your "working" Online Resources page so that I can get envy? :lol:

do tools-->internet option-->advanced-->install on demand (other) is notch to?
enable just for a test and disable it if you go elsewhere on the web.

be carefull of where you disable your firewall, i meen if you disable it completly, it's still can bloc in some ways.
only disable privacy(or allow cookies,disable browser privacy, and enable https), set to allow java and active scripting.
