Bug 759 (and the dupes)

Bug 759 wrote:I have also noticed that when I close down DC++, there is still an entry in the task manager, which I have to close manually, although this still doesn't let the PC close down normally.
Only possible thing i can think off which maybe ? cause this. The deleteInstances() in dcplusplus.cpp are not in an exact inverse of the newInstances(). Maybe relevant / related ?

no, this bugs seems to be fixed in CVS and it's due to blocking socket operations which caused hanging when client on the other side deadlocked.

Glad to hear, this was one of my biggest headaches with DC++.

Dont understand the replies, since I am not a programmer, but just want to let you know that I suffer from this problem, and have had to stop using the software as Im worried that closing the program this way with active connections could damage my disk drives!

Is there a solution to it???

Upgrade. :)
A few versions have been released since Big Muscle had said it's fixed in the cvs. So it should be fixed in them. :)

Im using the latest DC++ version, but still have the same problem. The program doesnt terminate (although appears to have shut down - ie no longer in the system tray) but still appears in the Task Manager, usually with memory usage of about 50k, and doesnt sever active connections to other users, since pings to gaming servers remain high (noticed through xfire). Terminating from Task Manager sorts this, but im still worried that it is damaging!

Which is? (People have a different opinion on what is 'latest'.)

I honestly fail to see how it could be damaging to your computer.
