Help file...

Post by arnetheduck » 2003-02-17 10:20

Anyone keen on writing a help file? There was a guy who started one, but he apparently changed emails, because it bounced when I tried...
So, if anyone can find him or write a new one, I think a lot of users would be happy, and my mailbox / the help forum would be more interesting...

Me and "Who" will be trying to port the GUI to wxWindows for "Windows/Unix/linux/and other operating systems" support. wxWindows has built-in support for tool-tips and html and xml help-files. (press F1 on appropiate control and get right help info fxp).

There is obvious need for more people on the conversion, but it should make help file/tooltips creation a lot easier. I think... =)

WTL and windows has that kind of support as well, but the problem is writing the text, something that I definately won't do...

Don't want to make a help file for your own program, hehe... I could do the English and Swedish ones, but that's as far as I can go. =) And as you said, it would probably make your mail-account happy. But I won't do it without program support for tooltips and "press F1 on this control to get to proper section in help" support of course, no need then...

You write the text and leave the f1-worries to me...=) Make sure you synch the page numbers with the ones in resource.h and we're ready to go =)

I've started my own DC++ (in fact oDC, but that's not a big deal to cut some feats from it) helpfile project some time ago, but i lack of time to finish it. Maybe when i'll be done w/ my exams...
