$Up
In hub to hub communication, the second parameter of the $Up command is the hub's own IP. I was wondering. Does this have to be the numerical dotted notation IP, or can it be a DNS hostname instead?

well, it depends on what the hubs can handle, and how they treat the information. But if we look at the rest of the protocol, ip should be used. Thats atleast the case for $Search, $SR and $ConnectToMe. Which hubsoft are you thinking of. Take dc++ for example, its "resolves" the dnsname (if you have put one in) at startup. So best way is to test what works and or take a peak on what is sent ;))
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.

Yeah. That probably is the best way. I suppose you are right about the rest of the protocol using only ip. Maybe i'll add in some lookup functionality.
I didn't have any particular hubsoft in mind. I'm actually having difficulty finding a DC hub that supports mult-hub connectivity that i can test mine against.
