0.69 connection types

Technical discussion about the NMDC and <a href="http://dcpp.net/ADC.html">ADC</A> protocol. The NMDC protocol is documented in the <a href="http://dcpp.net/wiki/">Wiki</a>, so feel free to refer to it.

0.69 connection types

Post by bastya_elvtars » 2005-12-26 12:50

Well, this may not be the best place, but... I am coding a bot that relies on connection types of DC++. All I would like to know: what will the new conntypes be in 0.69? Or is this a work in progress as well?

DC++ CVS Changelog wrote:* Connection type freely settable, and default connection strings changed
So the answer would be, anything the user wishes =)

Well, I just would like to know the default connection strings then (I cannot harvest it from the code, sorry).

I'd just like to make a small edit of Xan's list. It's:
0.005
0.01
0.02
0.05
0.1
[... And the rest is correct ...]

I think it would be easier to understand for common users if you put something like:

Modem
GPRS/3G
Satellite
Calbe
DSL
T1
T3

Or like in rmDC++ or similiar, you can choose your speed for exapmle
"Down 8M, Up 1 M".

It used to be like that, but since cable and DSL (in particular) connections range from 256kbps up to 24Mbps (download) it really isn't accurate anymore. The rmDC way could work nicely though, but again it would require that people would actually bother to use the right settings according to their connection. Not that any system would help that issue.

Yeah.. Well could iut be then something like this..

Modem
GPRS/3G
DSL - 256-1024
DSL - 2048 - 4096
DSL - 5000 - 8000
DSL - 10Mbit -12Mbit
DSL - 16Mbit - 24Mbit
T1
T3

At least this 0.005 etc etc system is very hard to understand for common users, many of my friends have asked "wtf this means" and on many hubs there is always somebody asking "what should i put in connection, i have 1m adsl".
So somekind chage gotta happen.

U mean that T1 and T3 stuff? I gotta admit I dunno what is it. Here in Finland we got just Modems (if somebody has 'em), broadband ADSL, VDSL and Cables and also public WLAN / WiMaX.
