Mounting ISO's under Windows

Post by TheParanoidOne » 2003-05-24 09:31

Hello!

Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to mount an ISO image as a drive in Windows?

A web search has been less than helpful I'm afraid :(

I'm not after something that can extract ISOs or view their contents, as I already have something like that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Let's see if i understood you right:

You want to emulate a virtual cd-rom drive on your pc and load an iso file into it, so you can use it as if it were a real cd-rom.

If this is the case, i recommend you daemon-tools:

http://www.daemon-tools.com/

With this tool you can emulate up to 4 virtual cd drives and load (almost) every known cd image file into it (i.e iso, bin, ccd...)

That is exactly what I want. The URL you gave me has come up in my investigations but the website seems to be down as I haven't been able to access it all day. Do you know if it's just today, or whether it has been down for a while?

Anything else?

I will give a tentative "Woohoo!".

It's tentative because I had a couple of bluescreens during install. This may be the software or it could just be my machine which really really enjoys bluescreens.

I've used it to mount a few CD's and install some stuff from ISO's. This is exactly what I am looking. It non-bloaty and does exactly what it says, in a simple and elegant way. All software should be like this.

I can finally do in Windows what I have been able to do in Linux for ~5 years.

I tried Virtual CD and that was a truly horrible beast! Yuk!

Oh, what the hell. Screw tentative. It works. Woohoo! :D

Cheers sarf and Charalambos!

You're welcome.

Daemon-Tools is exceptionally good for ... eh... playing backed-up games. Right. That's the ticket. And... ah... eh... other stuff.

No problem!

Daemon toolz is one of the greatest tools ever, for you can emulate every image file.

Image how many cds i had to have burned away instead of emulating the image files in my virtual drive.
