Free Visual Studio 2005

For people who are sceptical about the "free for a year part"

A. No, as long as you download Visual Studio Express on or before November 7th 2006, you will not have to pay for it.

There has been a thread on the WTL mailing list lately about compiling ATL/WTL applications with Visual Studio Express. I'm pretty sure that not being able to do so is a limitation they intended to design into Express.
In 2005, it looks like they also discontinued Visual C++ Standard, which was a $100 solution to being able to compile DC++. The next lowest cost solution seems to be Visual Studio Standard, which seems to weigh in at ~$300.

Indeed. Infact they seem to have removed the whole Resource View / Editor section, making it not very visual in the slightest.
Uninstalling at the moment.
