CRC Error need help recovering data

Post by J187 » 2004-07-16 11:13

I burned a bunch of MP3s to a Ritek DVDR as data before reformatting my HDD. When I tried to copy them back to the drive, a bunch of them copied with no problem, and a bunch of them came back with a CRC error. Since all files were part of one project and some work fine, I know it isn't a disc error. The file names are all present on the disc and have accurate sizes. Anyone know how to recover the data?

This seems like flawed logic to me. Did you verify the files when you wrote them?

It sounds very much like a disc error to me.

Sorry if that statement seemed unclear, I just meant that I know the whole disc wasn't corrupt. I verified a lot of the files just after burning but certainly not all as there were hundreds of them. Only some of the files have the CRC, strange. Thanks for your response

Sounds like parts of the DVDR are damaged. I use to know of a tool that would extract broken files off a CD, but the name escapes me right now.
