I'll think it would look neat if you could move the transfer bar to the sides, or up,
Another request is a sidebar where you can see the hubs you currently are in, users you have private chats with etc.

This already exists as tabs at the bottom of the screen. Is this not sufficient?

How about sorting and grouping the tabs into related categories, a la WinXP? I know mine tends to become a bit of a hellish jungle after a long night of chat and searching. A prettier type of listing than tabs (which I think is what he's getting at) might be pleasing but not that useful.

Try fulDC, i believe it has support for icons on the tabs. Makes it easier to identify them..
