Speed-o-meter

Post by geezer » 2004-03-01 14:28

It's nice to see what kind of connection users have. But it would be nicer if you could see how fast you are connecting to that user before starting a download. For example dl from a CABLE can be a lot faster than from a T3 depending on location and traffic. So if there were to be some sort of ping option it would be great.

Ping measures latency and not data rate.

What you could do is display the speed which you got the filelist in another column (like the CDM mod does). This will help to give an idea what speed they are capable of (during that period of time)

http://www.ukdnb.dsl.pipex.com/dcpluspluskcdm/

Although, I recommend you don't use it since its based of the 0.251 code base and is really ment for OPs.
