Auto-reconnect feature

Post by maxxyme » 2004-02-17 17:32

It seems to me that it's a lack, but correct me if i'm wrong.

In fact i connect to 2 hubs, and sometimes admins must reboot their servers supporting the hubs.

So i get disconnect, but unfortunately, i'm not auto-reconnected...
DC+ keeps disconnected
And if i'm away from my computer, i can only reconnect when i'm back (and see that).

So i don't know if it's a bug or a lack, let me know ;)

Please learn the difference between Image and Image. I have combined both your posts.

DC++ should automatically reconnect when it is disconnect. Do you get any messages being displayed?

I don't know why, but i got no "Edit" button  , just a "Quote" one...

Well, yes i got a message like "Connection reset by server" with a timestamp with approximatively equals the time that i came back on my computer and look back to DC++...

dc++ should try reconnect every minute after being disconnected, unless it was a nick in use error.

Oh and there probably wont be an edit button for you anyway, I dont think you can edit your own posts in this section of the forums.

Well i don't think it's a nick problem, because when i'm back and click on the reconnect button there's no problem, it connects.

For example, here what it displays in the chat zone:
...
[20:16] <DjKosmo> no no sorry admin.... :)
[20:16] <vuoi1scinquanta> =°
[23:32] *** Connection reset by server
23:32 it's the time i'm back
the two lines above are chat lines, and it's impossible that nobody has chatted between 20:16 and 23:32 since it's a 1500+ user hub !!!

... and strangely, as i came back :
[20:16] <vuoi1scinquanta> =°
[23:32] *** Connection reset by server
[23:35] *** Connecting to ***...
[23:35] *** Connected
[23:35] < *** Securityâ„¢> This hub is running DCH++ v0.32-Release (Plugin API v0.32) on Win2003 Server
[23:35] < *** Securityâ„¢> Please send your password
[23:35] *** Stored password sent...
it automatically reconnect a few minutes later !!!!

If this is the essentialsets hub you're talking about, correct...its never quiet for more than 5 minutes. But I also know that DCH++ will not keep a user around for more than a minute or two that it hasn't recieved any data from. Same goes with any DCH++ hub under standard configuration.

It could be that no one chatted in 3 hours...

Well... yes :D it's this hub.

And i don't know why it could be that the hub don't receive data from me anymore, as when i'm one my computer, it never disconnects !!! :?
And i'm always d/l & u/l
when i'm disconnected all the downloads&uploads are stopped => due to the option "Automatically disconnect users who leave the hub..." activated -i suppose- by the other users)
so... :(

Finally i thought again about my problem, and think it could be caused be the fact that after a specific period my computer went in standby mode (power config)...
So i've desactivated this windows option, and will see if it still deconnects from the hubs. :)

PS: why is it impossible here to edit my own posts ?

It's not impossible. You can do it in the Help/Support section and the Programmers Help section. As to why you can't in the other sections ... no idea. :D
