Language file problems
Hi!
I happen to be making a Hungarian translation for DC++, but this is not really important
I've noticed the following problems and incompletenesses (maybe they exist only because the incompleteness of the Example.xml file):
•In the new search window the Only where I'm op item is intranslatable.
•In the ADLSearch window the Property window is instranslatable (not to mention the brief description window, and the About box, btw. )
•In the Settings/Downloads section the Note in the second group is intranslatable.
•In the Appearance section the View status messages in main chat item is intranslatable.
•The Create/Modify Command window is also intranslatable.
And a little favour, if possible: could you add a few pixels width to the 'Share size' label in the Settings/Sharing section, cause I just can't fit my translation, and it would sound aweful in any other form (I'm trying to fit the text: 'Teljes meret:' into the label, but the 'meret:' is wrapped into a new line, so thus invisible )
I think that's all. DC++ is the BEST!
Oh. And a little bugreport: sometimes the main chat window stops scrolling to the new lines and gets stuck for a while, and doesn't resume until I press Ctrl+End in it (or go to the end of the chat any other way ) A little annoying sometimes
Best regards,
gLes

Try "Összes:" instead of "Teljes méret:" I've done it and it fits.

Translation question
Hello!
It's the first time I am getting to translate DC++ and have a few simple questions:
1. Could you please tell me where can I get the latest example language file (in English)? I got today (29.10) the latest DC++ version but (after install) the example.xml is from 27.10. Is there a way to make sure that I have the latest file before starting the translation?
2. Also, can I use somehow the Bulgarian translation for v.261 to build the translation for v.301? I mean without looking back and forth between the files which would be harder than translating the whole new file.
3. How do I upload the translation so that it is put for public use?
Regards,
Boris

Re: Translation question
The Example.xml DC++ installs is the latest. Feel free to go to http://sf.net/projects/dcplusplus/ and download the version of DC++ that doesn't have an installer.bandreev wrote:Hello!

You can use a diff/difference/merge tool to compare the Example.xml that came with 0.261 and 0.301. WinMerge is a free tool of this type.2. Also, can I use somehow the Bulgarian translation for v.261 to build the translation for v.301? Browse the Trackers at the above URL, there is a Translations tracker where you can make your own post, and then upload your translation.3. How do I upload the translation so that it is put for public use?

Or forgotten to run makedefs...Saurod wrote:The string for "Only where I'm op" is "OnlyWhereOp". I must've forgotten to update the example.xml when I added new strings...
Code: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h newStringDefs.H newExample.xml
Hopefully not :)))Or forgotten to run makedefs... :)Code: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h newStringDefs.H newExample.xml
Found another intranslatable part:
In the Advanced options section the 'Automatically add search string for alternative download locations' item is intranslatable.
Btw. what does this stuff do?:) (In the middle of important download, and I know it won't affect it but I don't want to touch DC++ yet to try this and my updated language file out)

Re: Language file problems
Btw. In my first message I wrote these:
And how about those few extra pixels in that label?:) Can we bargain about that?:)
I found that when I merged the 0.263 language file and the new 0.301 language file together, I forgot to translate these :) My mistake. But the others are still effective :)))gLes wrote:•In the Settings/Downloads section the Note in the second group is intranslatable.

Does it often happen here that some replies suddenly disappear?:) Nvm...
So...:) Gargoyle...we're not talking about the same string...you're talking about 'Automatically search for alternative download locations' and I'm talking about 'Automatically add search string for alternative download locations', see the difference?:) Check THAT in your example.xml file :)

use these:
Code: Select all
<String Name="OnlyWhereOp">Only where I'm op</String>
<String Name="SearchStringInefficient"/>
<String Name="SettingsAutoSearchAutoString">Automatically add search string for alternative download locations</String>
Thx.
What's that?:)GargoyleMT wrote:use these:Code: Select all

Note, that should actually be:GargoyleMT wrote:<String Name="SearchStringInefficient"/>
Code: Select all
<String Name="SearchStringInefficient">Specifying the same search string for more than 5 files for a passive connection or 10 files for an active connection is inefficient. Would you like to continue with the operation?</String>
and
Code: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h newStringDefs.H newExample.xml
Code: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h client\StringDefs.cpp Example.xml

Then will it actually work?:) And could you answer my other question please?:)GargoyleMT wrote:(StringDefs.h didn't contain the default value, so the Example.xml didn't either)Code: Select all

Sorry, I didn't really get this part :)GargoyleMT wrote:and
Actually isCode: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h newStringDefs.H newExample.xml
(The above being criticial for anyone who patches DC++ and modifies StringDefs.h without understanding that it drives both StringDefs.CPP and Example.XML)Code: Select all
makedefs client\StringDefs.h client\StringDefs.cpp Example.xml
Hmmm...nvm...don't you want to talk this over on ICQ?:) It would be much faster :)GargoyleMT wrote:You've asked a lot of questions. If you want to understand this one, don't rely on me or anyone else, just read the code. ;)gLes wrote:Then will it actually work?:) And could you answer my other question please?:)

Hmmm...interesting option...I still don't see the point but at least I can make a good translationSaurod wrote:It uses the target file name as the search string when automatically searching for alternate download locations. That was done behind the scenes in earlier versions. If the option is not checked no auto searching will occur since the search string will be empty.
