Ask for new feature

Post by Ismo » 2003-08-12 15:01

Hi!

Would you make this new feature:

When I download a folder, which contains a lot of files, there is az option in the List: search for alternates. But I have to click in each file, 1 by 1.

So, could you do this: I highlight all files, then DC++ automatically search for alternates on each files.

Thx

First problem is going to be how to space the searches so that they won't violate the hubsoft's search-spam restrictions. Perhaps an elegant solution for this is possible, dunno.

Are you aware of the "Automatically search for alternates" option?

It would have to avoid spamming for those alternates, other alternates, as well as manual searches.
Hehe.

Maybe, if you can set a delayed search. That's solve this problem.

Did you miss TheParanoidOne's post: "Are you aware of the "Automatically search for alternates" option?"

Dc++ does search for alternates on it's own if this option is activated in the settings. You don't have to search yourself... If you want to add new sources for all files I propose this solution:

Do a regular "search for alternates", download the lists from the one's that has the file, select "Match queue". That way all the files you have in common will get the new sources, and you will not have to search for the other files.

Please understand that searches is a huge problem (bandwidth) for the hubs and any feature that will increase searching will likely not be accepted. Features that decrease searching might be implemented though. =)
