Re: settings option to only search free slots
When requesting a feature, it might be an idea to be a bit more verbose aout the actual request.landmine wrote:..wouldnt that be a good idea?
For example:
What exactly would you want?
Why would it be "a good idea"?
How would it differ from what already exists?
How would you expect it to behave (including defaults)?
Who would it benefit the most?
Would there be any negative consequences, and who would they affect?
And so on ...
There is already an option in the search window to search "only users with free slots". Why is this unsatisfactory?
I may have more questions, depending on the answers to the above.

Why? With multiple sources for a single file, DC++ will try them all, and the first one to connect is the one you download from. This is *cough* "multi-source downloading" according to an early feature list of DCPro. (They've since realized that multi-source downloading means simultaneous transfer from multiple sources, as they've implemented that.)Twink wrote:I think it would be a nice idea to have a "search for users with free slots by default" so when you search for alternates it only returns free slotted ones. However this would be annoying if you didn''t just want the free slots.
Adding only those with free slots is... something that DC++ will figure out for itself in half a second anyway when it tries them all.
