Help! There is a client of DC thats nuke the DC++ !!

Post by Raül » 2003-07-24 19:27

Hi,
is a matter of a petition for future versions of the DC + +.
Recently I have discovered that there is a modified version that it is able to nuke to the clients.
The nuke sends too many petitions of connection to the client that wants to nuke, the result is that the client hangs because arrives to the limit of threads. (always this causes an machine hang).
This nuke utilizes the same ip and the same port in each petition and a possible solution would be to avoid that they try more than 2 connections by each IP.

Thanks.

What if he sends _different_ ips and ports, then? =)

Oh you mean this http://www.securitytracker.com/alerts/2 ... 07186.html exploit? Someone claimed it had been fixed (a bit) in version 0.26*, who knows more?

Don't you have the exploit against DC++? I assumed you did, because you posted the original thread. Test it yourself.

This isn't news, if you search for "unable to create thread" you'll see some other posts about the same subject.
