Multiple hub user search!

Post by Deathbliss » 2003-07-22 04:06

I came in here for one reason and one reason only. I'm tired of downloading big files from users that either get bounced somewhere you can't find them again, or move somewhere - so you can't continue your download from them. I realize that such a feature would be next to useless eventually since anyone that wanted to be a jerk about things could just change their name - it would be nice if there was some sort of way to identify whether or not someone is the same user under a different name... But I digress...

I wish to be able to select say 10 hubs at a time and search for a particular user. It would be even better to do your file searching that way too if you could, but a user search is a DEFINITE must. I'm sick and tried of going down the endless hublist doing endless searches - if I could just quickly and easily locate someone I started a file from that would be AWESOME!

That's my request -

Also, you do realise that you don't need to carry on the download from the *exact* same person, right?

I suggest you investigate the "Search for alternates" feature. That way you won't (generally) have to chase anyone.

Yeah...

I know that you can perform a "Search For Alternates" but sometimes the file you started isn't common enough to find anywhere, so it'd be easier to search for the guy you got it from.

Anyhow it seems like the site is down or something - could I have the name for whatever it is that the link takes you to so I can search for it elsewhere?

Thanks!

I, personally, don't want people stalking me for my files. There needs to be some privacy. Besides, what are you going to do when they have simply turned off dc++? Look up their phone number and call their house?

It's not stalking...

I simply want to finish a download I started from a certain user - especially if I can't find another source to get the file from. I don't want any more than that, and I will go no futher than that - I respect the privacy of others as much as posible.

It would probably be better to search for the *file* using MoGlo, rather than the user. That way you wouldn't be accused by anyone of "stalking".

It *does* happen:
