Custom User Menu Commands

Post by Hory » 2003-01-20 09:44

This is a very good and useful idea. The problem is that it's not working for me at all when trying to PM commands to bots, only on main chat. Am i the only one with this problem? I haven't seen bug reports about it.
I have three suggestions:
1) Make it so that the right click menu appears in the main chat window too, instead of the menu with only "cut, copy, paste...", containing only the commands that aren't "selected-nick" oriented.
2) Make it so that rightclicking on user names in private messages windows brings up the menu too.
3) Make it so that there can be Categories ofr commands. You know, similar to the menus on the download queue where hovering over an option brings a submenu of commands.

And of course, fix it. :D
Thanks a lot, keep up the good work.

Regarding these same commands...

Post by LinkSync » 2003-01-26 05:01

I just added .22 here and seen that and like it.
I wonder how i would make it do a command that needs to see some variable input tho?
for example:
+AddReg %nick %password % status
%nick is the highlited nick yes?
%password needs to be input
%status could be always the same just make a command for each status

prolly this is real dumb but if u know please e-mail me or pop into TREEHOUSE and PM me.

THX

peace

If I understand the text in the Modify user command correctly, you need to do something like this:

+AddReg %[nick] %[line:Password] %[line:Status]

Would be nice if some sort of scripting was implemented like many irc client have.

that way people could create scripts that have all the features they want and distribute them along side of dc++

Not even with 0.231!
I don't want to be insistent but couldn't pay more attention to that? Not only it is a nice feature to have, but it involves a security abuse :/
And in oDC 5.0 (0.23) it has been fixed, so i don't think it's a big deal.
I hope you'll fix it soon, thanks!

if you had SEARCH for it, you might have found http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/forum ... .php?t=526
it works, just differently than oDC5

Thanks for the link. But the problem is that it still can be a security exploit if used proper and that the same config file doesn't work for both oDC and DC++...

What kind of security exploit?

It's only hub related so it's no problem for regular users.

Well, I'm still interested in what kind of security exploit could it be - if it's the concern about sending fake PMs, that's irrelevant.

It involves problems with Hubs, and it's not only related to DC++, but DC++ can trigger it. I'll tell you about it once it's gonna be fixed. :)

this is an old exploit, nothing new... have been discussed in many forums

all-i-have-to-say-about-it-ly'ers ;))
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.

Security through obscurity has never worked - even if the next version of DC++ "fixes" the problem, people are still free to use older version...
Also, it's not even a problem in DC++ - it's a problem in the hub software, so I could always write my own program that would exploit the problem.
