Logging into different folders

Post by iK » 2003-06-10 11:17

Yeah, I dont know if you can do this or not already, I'm thinking not.

But can we get an option to log into different folders for each hub?

like..

\DC++\Logs\hub1.no-ip.com\
\DC++\Logs\hub2.dyndns.org\

etc etc.

Been looking for this option so PM's and upload/download logs from different hubs don't get mixed up with each other. OpChat would be an example.

Only downside to this that I see is if the same user is in more than one hub. You'd have two separate logs to search through to find info. Though as you're discussing with OPchat, it would be a good system to separate it out. That said, I haven't looked at all into coding it, but it doesn't *seem* that difficult. As for upload and download logs, I really don't see the reason for separating those. The data is going to be uploaded and downloaded just the same regardless of the hub you're in.

What about user PMs/etc in a seperate folder, maybe called users? Then you could keep stuff like the up/downloads and chats seperated from the users.

That would be my personal request. Since I don't use any hubs running opchat, and DO talk to some of the same people in different rooms, My ideal setup would be:

Code: Select all

Logs
- PM Logs
  - user1.txt
  - user2.txt
- Mainchat Logs
  - hubaddress.txt
  - hubaddress2.txt
Uploads.txt
Downloads.txt
- Gratch

That would probably be a good change all around. Would people want to keep the logs in the current format? If so, the GUI for the Log settings page will get nasty very quickly! (Any ideas, are, of course welcome.)

that would be somewhere around what i was looking for. Since OPChat is just a pm, it would go into the same folder, the same name. Thus overwriting it and/or writting info from two different hubs to 1 log.

Code: Select all

Logs
- Hubaddress Logs
  - main.log
  - user1.log
  - user2.log
- Hubaddress2 Logs
  - main.log
  - user1.log
  - user2.log
Uploads.log
Downloads.log
thats something around the lines of what im looking for.
I really could just see a small checkbox for this to enable a sorting method of some sort or another. Shouldnt take up too much room.
