Search for alternate files in a folder

Post by masteryoda » 2003-05-20 10:56

Serching for alternate download locations for all files in a folder. And an option in settings for the time betwean each file search (to prevent search spam).

Half of this is in oDC, the search-part, not the setting-thing to enter the time betwean the searches....

For part 1, if you enable "Automatically search for alternates" it will go through your entire download queue with 10 second (I think) intervals between each search.

ie. the feature is already there. Unless you mean something different ...?

I know about the "Automatically search for alternates" and i have that enebled, but it isn't as effective as i want it to be. I want an alternative in the right-click menu to search for alternates in the folder, as I get if i right-click a file. That way I dont need to search for alternates to every file in the folder, or wait for the automatick search.....

I still don't understand what you are going after. Do you want that for the search window or the filelist window? For the last case, have you noticed the 'match queue' in filelists?

I think he wants to be able to apply the functionality of "Automatically search for alternates" on a specific folder.

Kind of like a half way house between automatically searching for everything, and manually searching for one thing.

Am I right?

What I mean is: in my download queue, I want to be able to right-click a folder, get the alternative to "search for alternates", and it starts to search for alternates for all the files in that folder right away, maybe you could say that it starts the "Automatically search for alternates" for that folder..... to put that folder "first in queue for autoserach"......

Isn't that what I just said?

I think he wants to be able to kick off a search for alternates on all entries in a folder. Only spaced out enough so that he doesn't get kicked.

Sidenote: some hubs have search control themselves, and so DC++ can't rely entirely on its internal search spam criteria to figure out how to space out search requests.

I think we are all saying the same thing, but in slightly different ways. The joys of the English language :)

What he wants is:

- Right click on a folder (for example MP3 music: "Madonna - Greatest Hits") in the download queue! Then there appiers a window which allow him to search for alternatives: 1.) All files in this folder 2.) the folder name

(Because it sucks a lot to search for every file manual, or wait for the automatic search)

But isn`t this implented yet??? :? (the searching for the whole folder)

(Sorry 4 my bad english)

It is implemented in oDC, try to install and look how int works. But the thing is, I want it in DC++. In oDC it just searches for the alternate files without a searchwindow popping up, but that doesnt matter, the only thing I want is the feature, with or withot a popup, or eaven better, to be able to chose to have a popup or not, and be able to set the time betwean the searches (oDC does not have the time-setting).

Everybody knows what we are talking about now?

Then tell Opera to contribute his code to DC++. Arne will not accept patches from anyone but the copyright holder of the patch.
