drop downloads under....

Post by dude87k » 2003-05-04 13:02

I think that there should be a feature to drop a download under a certain number. I have adsl and its really annoying when you leave dc on overnight and come back to see that your download has been going at .8 kb/sec....just a suggestion

and if this isn't new don't flame me...

So for you, 0kb/s is better then .8kb/s?

no i mean that most of the time i'll have at least one other source that will be faster, you should be able to switch between rare files(any download rate) to common files(whatever you want)

This is already on the list of feature requests, if you're interested take a look at:

I am _really_ waiting for this feature. It's the only "complaint" I can think about dc+.

On reviewing some of my collection of DC++ mods (not all of which have source available), I think that a certain mod by Interbrew (hi Stealth folks!), a mod by Who (not sure on this one), and a mod by xAyiDe all have this feature. Even if I had source, Arne wouldn't accept a patch for it from me, as I don't own the copyright on the patch... Perhaps one of those authors will step forward with the patch?

Thank's GargoyleMT for your response and giving me some hope :D
I googled and searched for those mods for couple of days, didn't have any luck. Could you ( you seem to be the most active "guru" around here  ) give me some hints and clues in finding those mods. I feel like Sherlock already...

Well, I was mistaken about Who's modified client... It's not in there. It is, however, in DC Stealth. It's one of the few legitimate features in the modification, it's mainly tailored to people who are not willing to share, yet want to download from others (leeches). Xayide's client isn't public. So, it's semi helpful, but I really intended the original authors to read that and contribute thieir source back to the main branch. ;)
