See what is asked for upload

Post by Psiconauta » 2003-04-15 08:50

Many times i have had the doubt about how many files or MB are asked by any other user from me; so, i don't know how many time i would be in the hub....additionally, many users don't reply the privates -'cause aren't in front of the PC- and I don't have any way of know it.

This could be a useful feature?

can't be done with the current protocol
the only one who knows what she/he has queued is the downloader.

if you feel strongly about this, please be a little more elaborate about why

I've seen people ask for this before. In at least two cases, it was WinMX users. DC++ and DC let you do less micro-management of uploads. I think this is a good thing, as there's no real reason to exert that level of control. If someone's leeching and breaking rules, have a hub op kick them. (I've seen WinMX users cancel uploads even when you're sharing and have 2+ slots).

See the posts by myself and others for upload queues for more info.

This isn't actually true; I may add more information to the upload queuing portion of BCDC++ to demonstrate this. If DC++ kept trying to download one file, it would still be mostly true, but it hops from file to file, so one can get a pretty good idea of a downloader's queue...

Ah, thanks for he enlightenment, I thought (guessed) that the file picking was fairly deterministic. :)

Well, you never know what file will be downloaded next, but you can record what the user has already downloaded.

This may be usefull, as I rarely sit in front of my machine monitoring my slots, and wouldn't know a leecher if I saw him.

Some kind of totals for each user in the download section may be a nice additional indicator for something like this.

I was also thinking that a running time (or just the time they connected), file count, and byte count would be nice little pieces of eye candy in the transfer frame...
