option to disconnet users after current file is finished.

Post by RocketJ.Squirrel » 2003-03-20 08:56

I'd like to see an option to allow the users, who are currently connected to me, to finish their current file, and then be disconnected, once I have left the HUB.

My only option, at this time, is to abruptly disconnect them and leave them with a partial file.

I like the idea, but I would rather see this option in the poup menu, when you right click on the download.

currently, there is a "disconenct" selection in the menu
just add a "disconnect on file complete" or something

I like the pop-up idea, that would definitely work for me!

This feature could be extended to disconnect after n files, with an option to disconnect even if you do not leave the hub. This would help people getting complete files and prevent clutching at slots.

I'd rather see this as an option that would force them through the initial check they went through when they requested a file - seeing if they were a (freshly) granted user, if they were asking for a small file, if they are asking for your file list, if you are below your "start new uploads if under xx kbps", or if you're not out of slots. Something like a "re-check slot conditions" - this would also be useful if you lowered your slots for some reason. The key is it shouldn't disconnect them if you have free slots.

No, that would be something different, what I'm asking for would be because I'm prepareing to shut down DC++ and do other things with my computer, and bandwidth. (like Download from the Usenet with my 56K connection!)

I don't think the client should have too much controle over who, what and when a users is downloading from you ...
I have to say that i like it just the way it's working now. Though GargoyleMT idea could have its upsides !

Rocket, if you disconnect from the hub, the effect is exactly the same. If you're looking for an exit option that lets you finish uploads, that is a known feature request (at least in the RFE tracker on sourceforge).
