TTH alternative searching, and sources

Post by yo-yo~delta » 2005-01-21 15:13

I realized that whenever DC++ downloades a filelist from another user,
it checks for matching files (by TTH i assume/hope =D). I've never
really understood when and why it decides to dowload a user's file list.
Is it whenever you connect to them by trying to download a file fomr them?
Or other times too..

(in the options in DC++ you can check for automaticly search for alternatives,
I'm not sure everything about when it checks, and if by TTH or not (i hope so))
Well, could there be some way to set up DC++ to search everyhub connected
to for alternatives by TTH to add to queue, and in a slow manner so there is
no search spam problem? [ex: search by TTH every 2 hours, 30 second bettween
each file individual search] I really don't have a feel for how hard this would be.

Also, what about a remove sources by hub, or by age, or something?

I'm really happy with the new versions and TTH which i only just figured out.
No more bad file, or rollback inconcistency again =D.

You probably have "Automatically match queue for auto search hits" checked. You can check the help file (press F1) for more information about this feature.

This is what DC++ already is doing, automatically searching with a time interval. In the next version, you will have:

DC++ should be good about not causing search spam, except if you manually search too close to one of its autosearches.

If you see "detected search spam from ..." often, it could be the hub's connection being saturated, or your own. Spacing out autosearches for everyone else is a band-aid over your own issue. :)
