Cancel Search

Post by Gba111 » 2004-12-27 15:52

Several times I've accidentally started a search for a broad category that exists in several places - imagine searching for the word "the" and accidentally hitting enter, then waiting for all 50,000 results to come back, with the CPU going at 100% for the whole time. A "cancel search" button would be nice.

You should have searched for cancel search.

The main hurdle for something like this is you can't control the search replys coming back once a query is sent out. So when your new search query is sent out 11 seconds from your mistaken search, how does DC++ know if it's getting bogus "the" reponses or returns from your new query? And then if you want to solve that, how long should DC++ wait before it stops ignoring search results?
