Detect unfinished torrents during hash

Post by McDC » 2004-12-08 08:48

Even tough very high compression tells if it is an unfinished torrent they shoudnt be shared in the first place. So maybe during hashing they could be removed.

dc++ doesn't have torrents.
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.

People can still share unfinished torrent destination files from programs that creates whole files right from the start.

It doesn't make sense to add support for dc++ for be able to detect every single type of unfinished download from other programs, people should just be smart enough to not share that kind of thing. Is there anything particularly obvious about the name of a non finished torrent file?

Actually, the only way to detect an unfinished torrent is by checking if parts of it are "empty". But that's not a very reliable way to detect something..

Usually large portions or the whole file will be empty.

"Usually"? Only if the user just started downloading the torrent, otherwise it will have holes here and there, less and less all the time. Tell us a foolproof way to detect this.
