dchub:// standards

Post by Timzone8 » 2004-11-08 07:44

Can future DC++ versions support:
dchub://username:password@hub-url
dchub://username@hub-url
Just like FTP?

This is a rather unusual idea for DC though, unlike ftp DC hubs do not allow multiple people using the same account to login, so why you'd want to advertise the username/login is beyond me.

Dynamic?

Post by Timzone8 » 2004-11-14 19:19

Perhaps the dchub:// link could be generated dynamicly:
dchub://guest#n:password#en@hubaddress
Where #n is simply 1->n N+1->N for each request and en uses and encryption with the password and N. This would restrict users from accessing the hub without clicking this link.
The main idea is just for users to type dchub://username:password@hubaddress instead of having to load DC++ (or maximize it), go to favourites, add address, change nick, connect. Compared to a few words that can quickly typed and entered.

Lag?

Post by Timzone8 » 2004-11-14 19:31

I submitted my email and name to Bugzilla for an account but haven't received an email yet. Is there usually a long delay?
