Hub Ping Times

Post by djdiablo » 2003-03-04 10:50

Like on some mirc clients, have a latency bar for the hubs you are on. Some hubs have major lag and aren't worth staying on for long!

Such an easy thing to implement I would have thought ;)

I think this would make more trouble than it's worth. Sure, if you're in the hub, maybe a status bar could show you your ping to it, but pinging hubs in the hub list (which is how I read your quote) needs to be seriously considered before implementing.

Do you tell a mechanic how easy it should be to fix your car?

I could see some hub owners getting annoyed at constantly getting pinged if this feature was introduced.

Now there's something I didn't think about. Good point.

dunno what happened to that but hey - never mind!

I didn't mean to write it as hub ping times in the public hub list, but to have a constant latency monitor as in some mIRC clients. Therefore, only connected hubs would be checked.

I'm figuring there must be some sort of monitor already in place for the chat, so a latency monitor would just be an extension.

Hey, only an idea :p
