Set default filetype

Post by Huvet » 2004-08-09 07:38

Hello.
I have a quite simple suggestion. Since I use DC++ mostly for searching for movie-files, I'm most often not really interrested in getting results that are not movies. There is an option for this in the search-meny but I end up changing it to movies every time I search. Wouldn't it be an easy thing to add to the settings a possibility to set the default filetype?

There are far too many options already. Remembering the type used in the last search box might be a good way to do it, but there's a decent chance it would create more hassle than it prevents. I'd say just try to reuse the search window.

This was my thought about a nice way to do this without creating yet another setting.

Yes that would in fact be a better way of doing it.

When people are chosing the right filetype right away this means better more precis searches and therefore less hub lag. Great enhancement I would say.

Searches, whether they contain a type or not, are the same from the hub's point of view. Only passive responses might impact the hub's bandwidth, but those are already limited to 5 per user.

If this really makes any hub less laggy, it has serious bandwidth issues.
