Safe/Compressed transfers mandatory

Post by Lundis » 2004-08-02 05:47

Now that hashing is mandatory and soon only hashed files will be shared since arnetheduck don't want broken files.....

Shouldn't safe and compressed transfers be mandatory too? It's especially useful in finding those fake files filled with nothing.

I just think that hashing is one step above the transfers and both should be mandatory.
And with this change it may be unnecessary to show the * in the transfer list. In the ratio collum we can have the numbers for compressed transfers and "N/A" for non-compressed ones.
That way we save like two whole characters on the width. :D

Hell NO! Safe and compressed transfers is a major CPU absorbing feature.. on a 100Mbit connection it is impossible to even have it on.

Really, I didn't know that.
I did a comparison on cpu-usage with the feature on and off.
On was 11%, off was 8% but that was only on 10 Mbit so I see your point.
