Fakers
Maybe a post exists like this but I couldn't find it. Are people still faking? Has the number of users faking gone down? I know at least one very cheap and good way of faking and am wondering what the developers are doing about it.
A NEW FEATURE. . .
What about this feature which users have the option of monitoring. If they are in "monitoring mode" they will get messages from other users who think someone is faking. So if enough users vote for this person he gets kicked automatically, no need to call an admin. It doesn't have to be many users, if 10 people cannot download then that person is kicked. So lets say I'm searching for something, I find a client who has the file I start downloading but it aint working so I go to monitoring mode and add him to the watch list. Pretty soon 10 people will vote for him and hes out of there. What do you think?

This has nothing with DC++ todo atleast, but yes i have myself had client-side bots with kick/ban-voting running. It did not function very well.. Simpler to have report system and more vips/ops who can kick/ban.
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.
I think this particular feature is a little bit hard to implement, but something similar could work, like a simple hub-script which enables users to vote for someone who they think is faking or is misbehaving. When there are more than x% voters, the specific user could get kickedGargoyleMT wrote:Not a feature that's likely to go anywhere.
You have the same principle on gameservers, a user can start a vote when there is a cheater, and when >50% of the people agree the user is kicked.
The feature could also be implemented without the option to kick someone, but only to vote for a certain user, the OP can occasionally check the incoming votes, and when a certain user has a lot of votes for fakesharing, the OP can kick him
This feature would be not only usefull for fakesharers, but also people who have a low upload like 16kb, and then open 20 slots and connect to >10 hubs at the same time, when someone wants to download a file, the speed will vary between 500b/s to 1kb/s.. so in a lot of cases the slot is completely useless. Users like that could be kicked when a feature like this exist.
If we want kill all fakers.
Make SFV check that DCPlusPlus.exe
Then all must use orginal dc++
Hub and client check that SFV..
Orginal 0.401: DCPlusPlus.exe AB48A74F
Some edit: DCPlusPlus.exe 27C459D3
oDC.exe F14C5D7F
Stealth: DCPlusPlus.exe 6077216C
This is best way remove all fakes. But this remove all ODC....

i_h: it exists already:
the fact that DC++ sends a correct Decoded $Key response to the hubs $Lock enquiry, proves that DC++ is NeoModusDC

Sure, but it is 100% uninteresting, will turn DC into a police-state, and would (if it ever got coded, which it will not) eat up development time that would be better spent adding features that most users would appreciate.Wisp wrote:I think this particular feature is a little bit hard to implement, but something similar could work, like a simple hub-script which enables users to vote for someone who they think is faking or is misbehaving.
