Cycle through downloads

Post by Wire64 » 2006-08-12 17:13

Next to remove user from queue, i would like the option to download from a selected user (from users with free slot ofcourse).

For example:
You have a file which 4 people have with free slots, now it starts to download from the one that you fastest downloaded the file list from.
but lets say after 20 minutes someone with a "faster connection"/"less cur. uploads" comes available it sticks with the slower download without an option to download from the other person except to remove the current user from queue.

Simple right :P

might be some what related to this post:

How would your client know someone with faster speed had come online exactly?

It doesn't, wel it could by looking at the speed of the filelist.
But i just like an option to take the download of another user without removeing the current user from the queuelist.
Choosing where to download from is sometimes prefered but would also be an option.

Implementing multisource would be much more powerful and cleaner than all the little speed hacks like this. Just hit close connection and it will try to connect to someone else.

Close the connection.

You don't get to choose though. In a way, it's the other person that chooses. ie. the person that responds first is the person you download from.

I figured as such so there is now way of forcing a connection to a certain user?
Close the connection.
Closing the connecting does indeed allow to download from another user.
Hmm how did i miss this option all these years :/
Must go to the optician to buy me some new spectacles.

Tnx,

It was also my first thought.

The source dropping options in DC++ are meant to achieve similar ends as well.
