filter chat lines containing *is kicking*because* string

Post by mhanor » 2006-01-15 09:58

it would be nice to filter from the client status bar the chat lines containing *is kicking*because* string, where * means "any chars, even no chars at all", received from non-operators (because this is the filter used by DC++ to display chat lines in the status bar, i've tested this)
instead of displaying the lines in the status bar, just display them in the main chat

Why? Have the hub software do it.

I have :)
but that's not the issue... :)
I know it's a minor thing, but I think that the client should do it, because only authorized messages should get in the status bar and the status bar belongs to the client, not to the hub... the client should be more careful, not the hub admin :)

You can't 'send' text to the status bar. DC++ will just filter a message if it contain 'is kicking because:'. It's not an 'operator-feature'. If you want just operators to 'send to' the status bar, have the hub filter it.

I've already said it... I think that the client should be careful what messages are displayed in its status bar

Who cares really who does it? You can already set if you want the message filtered, or not. Personally i wish everyone would set their damn hubs to kick everyone who spams messages that end with a lot of space and a "is kicking", since they're so damn ignorant. That goes for both normal and OP users, both abuse it equally.

I have to agree upon the fact that sending chat-messages to the status-bar is a bad idea from the start. Regardless if its from an OP or not. Either display it in chat or ignore it fully (or send to the log-frame). But then, thats how i want to behave. I don't expect others todo it for me. ;))

Thats the thing with opensource. ;))
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.
