Problem: DCH++ disconnects users

Post by Softice » 2003-06-09 12:04

Hi, I have noticed that DCH++ disconnects users alot more often than other hub software.

The problem is especially noticeable when using the mainchat.

Often you get a delay 1-2 sec before your message shows up in the mainchat, then after it shows you get disconnected by the hub.

1. Why aren't you posting this in the beta forum?
2. what version of DCH you using? 0.22-0.24 had issues with disconnecting users.
3. What OS / Connection you on? Your upload being saturated per chance?
4. "disconnected alot more often that other hub software" What messages do the hub give you when disconencting?

1) Because when I asked arnetheduck where I could post bugs about DCH++ he told me http://dcplusplus.sf.net/forum. And I don't find any topic in this forum that says 'Beta' or 'Bugs' under the DCH++ category.

If I'm wrong please direct me to the correct forum. URL?

2) DCH++ v0.25-Release, (note: I'm not serving just using). Hub located in the same city. I've been visiting it daily for more than one year.

3) Windows 2000 / 0.5Mbit cable connection.
I get disconnected even if I do not have any uploads or downloads. Just idle in the hub. But, when downloading and uploading the problem is worse. If I'm not using the mainchat I get disconnected once every hour(+- 15min). If I use the mainchat I get disconnected 90% of the times after sending a message. Sometimes I get lucky and I can send 5-6 messages without getting disconnected. ;)

4) *** Connection reset by server

This is the beta DCH++ forum: http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/forum ... m.php?f=14

If you do a search on this board for "Connection reset by server" you'll get tons of results. Its usually either because your/the hub internet connection is bad or an ISP is blocking traffic. Anyone else in the hub experiance the same problems as you?

The beta DCH++ forum seem to be only for registered beta users? Where do I apply?

When I try to follow the url you posted I get:

"Information: The forum you selected does not exist"

1) Yes, this is the correct forum, the beta forum is for hub owners only.
2) It's a fairly well known issue, I'm working on it with the hub owner in question, it only happens on heavily loaded hubs and is related to nework sending priorities probably...(see buffer overflow in +stats =)
