So when can we get our dirty hands on it ? Why not make a release now ?
I reallly hope it will be opensource unlike ptokax, otherwise the reason for using it kinda disappears.
Will it implement any bandwidth saving measures such as quicklist ?

It robs you of the false sense of security that you can download the code and change it meet your needs. Otherwise, after two and a half years, there wouldn't be only a dozen or two people mucking with the DC++ source.
